What you should know about portion sizes…

Oct 21, 2018

There’s a lot of talk about “portion sizes” and “portion control” in relation to eating healthy / losing weight.

Some people say to eat a lot of small meals, others say eat a few large meals, and there are others who say something in between!

Can I get real with you?

Portion sizes are somewhat of an imaginary concept. What matters is energy in vs. energy out!

If we’re looking at the big picture, it doesn’t matter whether you want to eat two giant meals or six smaller meals throughout the day. What matters is WHY & WHAT you’re eating, and how your choices impact your goals (i.e. eating too much or too little for what you’re trying to achieve).

Instead of getting hung up on the “right” portion sizes, research, experiment, and seek to learn more about what works for YOU.

And if you need help understanding more about how much you should be eating to align with your goals, work with a coach (more specifically, a registered dietician) to get qualified advice that is tailored to YOU!

“Healthy” isn’t a one-size-fits-all concept. It’s all about implementing sustainable habits that you can stick to — remember that the next time you hear your neighbor’s friend talk about portion size ;).
