Low-Calorie (or No-Calorie) Snack Hacks To Satisfy All Your Cravings

Jul 10, 2019

You’re trying to eat healthy.  You’re trying to resist all the ‘bad’ foods you really want to be eating.  I know - IT’S HARD sometimes isn’t it?!  ...*thinks of summertime*

I am going to let you in on a couple of my saving grace, go-to snacks hacks, for those times when I really want to be eating a dozen doughnuts, but I should be eating something with a little (or 5000) less calories!

Not all of these are the healthiest, most nutrient dense snacks you could have BUT they’re quick, they’re easy and they’re better for you than doughnuts.

Snack Hack #1:  Carbonated Flavored Water!

I can’t stand regular flavored water, is that weird?  When someone asks if I want lemon in my water - heck no!  “Lemon water - are you trying to be lemonade? YOU WILL NEVER BE LEMONADE!”

Try a La Croix or Bai Bubbles or any other type of low-cal carbonated water drink.  The sweetness help will satisfy your sweet tooth and the carbonation will help you feel full.

Snack Hack #2:  Frozen Chocolate Chips!

Sometimes we just need some chocolate in our lives, am I right?  Keep a bag of chocolate (or white chocolate, or peanut butter or whatever tickles your fancy) in the freezer.

The next time that chocolate craving hits, don’t go for the chocolate chip cookies or chocolate bar, grab a couple chips out of the freezer.  They’re oddly satisfying and unless you eat the whole bag (don’t do that), a good way to cure your craving.

Snack Hack #3:  Sugar-Free Jello (or Pudding) with Fat Free Whipped Cream

Now some of you may be against eating Jello and that’s fine.  But for those of you who can get down with the Jello - try this one!  Don’t eat it everyday but when you need a sweet treat, try it, it’s very satisfying!

Snack Hack #4:  Puffed Grains!

Sounds so lame, huh?  Hear me out! Don’t get me wrong, I love peanut butter Cap’n Crunch or Cinnamon Toast Crunch, but when I want something healthier, I go for some puffed grain cereal with almond milk (try vanilla almond milk or add a little stevia in there to add sweetness).

My favorite puffed grain is kamut.  It’s kind of like rice krispies, but bigger and puffier.

Snack Hack #5:  Laughing Cow Cheese!

This one, you guys!  I LOVE cheese! I mean, who doesn’t?  The little wedges of Laughing Cow Cheese are seriously so creamy and so yummy.  AND they barely have any calories!

Maybe you knew this one already.  BUT, have you ever made nachos with Laughing Cow Cheese?  I bet you haven’t! You must try it.

Snack Hack #6:  Cucumbers with Ranch Seasoning!

Have you ever tried ranch popcorn seasoning?  It’s in the popcorn aisle. There’s bacon cheddar and jalapeno too but the ranch flavor on cucumbers (or any raw veggies) is so good!

The non-Jello people may protest this one too because ‘it’s full of chemicals,’ but really?  You’re eating a millionth of a teaspoon.

If it’s not for you, that’s fine but I’m not going to stop professing my love for ranch popcorn seasoning.

Snack Hack #7:  Pickles!

Are you a pickle lover or pickle hater?  In my experience, I’ve found people either love or hate pickles.  I’m a pickle lover! The cold crunch is so satisfying. Low calorie = bonus!

Snack Hack #8:  Walden Farms Syrup!

I’ve tried a lot of Walden Farms products and to be honest, I don’t like most of them.  But I do like their syrup.  I’ll make a protein waffle in the morning and put a couple tablespoons on there and it’s tasty!

If you’re not familiar with Walden Farms, they make dressings, coffee creamers, bbq sauces, etc. that have no calories, fat, carbs, gluten or sugar of any kind in them.

They’re a great alternative to other high calorie, high fat, dressings and sauces.  You’ll have to try and see for yourself. Maybe start with the syrup!

Snack Hack #9: Powdered Peanut Butter!

I love peanut butter.  Really I just love food, if you can’t tell!  I could eat peanut butter all day but when I’m trying to reel it in, I like PB2 or Crazy Richard’s powdered peanut butter.  It’s not fake.

It’s still real peanuts, just in powder form.  Mix it with a little water and it’s almost like real deal peanut butter.

There you have it!  My 9 snack hacks! I hope you incorporate some of these hacks and step up your snacking game!

Cheers!
